Oil & gas, or hydrocarbon energy is comparatively inexpensive, easy to use, and can be used in a wide variety of applications. Oil & gas is essential to sustaining economic growth in the industrialized world and crucial to the development of nations striving for prosperity. The demand for oil & gas will continue to increase as long as they remain the leading energy sources, and there is little evidence to suggest any change.

However, as demand for oil & gas increases, to keep up with the demand, the industry must continue to develop new technologies to increase exploration success and production.
